You've just been assigned to DS9 for your first deep space assignment and for whatever reason, Colonel Kira let's you pick your duty. As your a brand new ensign, with the starch still in your uniform, you obviously cannot pick a senior staff position. What duty assignment would you pick?

Security - specifically, customs or whatever equivalent they have. Meeting all the different people/species from all over three different quadrants of the galaxy sounds pretty cool.

I'd work for Miles, a good bloke and knows his stuff, you'd learn a lot.
