Mikey wrote:Absolutely. I haven't been in the military like some of our friends here, but IIRC modern MBT's with crews of four or more have 2 - 3 guys in that section anyway. Consider the miniaturization of tech in your universe, and I don't see an issue at all.
Midget tankers has much more comedic possibility, of course.
A modern four man MBT has one in the hull (driver) and three in the turret/turret basket (loader, gunner, commander), so the three are more or less in the middle. A remote turret would require some interesting crew placement, likely with the driver up front and the commander and gunner to either side. Set slightly back. The main gun could have an autoloader. Think like this:

In this particular case, loading isnt necessary because this is meant for Ariel, It'd be a plasma or laser based weapon.

I assume that if it's a plasma weapon or a chemical laser, it's going to need fuel of some sort. So it's still a good idea to shove that stuff in the turret to keep it away from the crew.Reliant121 wrote:In this particular case, loading isnt necessary because this is meant for Ariel, It'd be a plasma or laser based weapon.

It would need a power source of some form yes, and it probably would be in the turret. So a containment tank on the turret for the chemical/crystal/power pack or whatever it may be?

Yeah. There's no reason it couldn't be in the hull though if you want a lower profile vehicle, unless the power source/fuel is so dangerous that you need extra protection for the crew in case of cook off. Depends on the particulars of your universe, I haven't looked at it so I couldn't say.Reliant121 wrote:It would need a power source of some form yes, and it probably would be in the turret. Plasma can be quite volatile, its probably best to contain it in the rear of the turret. I'll probably increase the turret size to accommodate a large plasma tank, or laser crystal.

Here's a pic of a tank with an unmanned turret. May be helpful.

Yeah, i'd have to increase the size of the actual turret to accommodate the firing system.
I'll get it up tomorrow, i have to go to bed relatively soon.

It's like a GCS - only an officer of captain's rank (or, major for army) gets a bathroom.Tsukiyumi wrote:Yeah, but, where's the bathroom?

I'd say piss out the ammo hatch but it's a remote turret.

Would you be adverse to "sharing" the overall tank concept with our marines aboard the Valkyrie?
