Notes

The Sombra class was a Starfleet vessel built from the same componants as the Constitution class. It was known for being fast, but had a crew of only 99, compared with 203 for the Constitution Class. It had a larger view screen than the Constitution Class. [1]

In 2258 the Sombra class USS Peregrine was reported lost near Valeo Beta V, an L class planet. Ionic radiation in the upper atmosphere prevented beaming and communication so the USS Enterprise was sent on a rescue mission to determine the fate of the crew. and passengers. [1]

It was discovered that the crew had been casualties of a Gorn infestation that resulted in the loss of the entire crew complement. The only survivors were a young girl and a member of DITL Species No. 1222, nicknamed "Buckley". Buckley had in also been infected and the resultant batch of hatchlings killed a number of the rescue party, before being eliminated. The ship was eventually restored and returned to orbit were it was towed away for repairs. [1]
