Somewhat new to Dr. Who

I'd seen an episode here or there over the years, but never watched a complete season. Season 9 was the first complete season I'd ever watched. Plenty of explanations were happily given, so I wasn't ever completely lost. After that, I watched the majority of the David Tennant era, and really enjoyed it. I'll be very interested to see how the first female Dr. plays out.

I really believe that the female-ness of the new Doctor will be a non-issue... at least, according the writing and production. There will always be a certain group of troglodytes who will spout off about it; but I fervently hope that the show itself will make absolutely nothing of it.

So... her sonic screwdriver might not have three settings?
