Battle at Utopia Planitia

Post by DarkOmen »

I have added another segment to my Borg panorama, this time featuring an assimilation cube, an part of the Utopia Planitia Shipyards, and the nearby research stations. I decided to add new planetary defense, a zero-point energy phaser. I added it to Mars' moon Phobos, as a sort of orbiting super weapon to protect the shipyards. I constructed it out of a little toy model radar dish, some pipes, a picture of some buildings near a power plant and an engine flywheel. I wanted to show how powerful the Borg really are, so there is a Starbase, and what use to be a colony on the surface of Phobos, being obliterated. And similarly, I wanted to show the Akira's true power, so I added it launching a massive barrage of torpedoes. The Daystrom perhaps? ;)

Here is the fullsize version of the new section with the rest of the panorama scene. WARNING: Huge picture!

For anyone out there who uses photoshop and can appreciate this, after it was all said and done, the .psd was 150mb, 135 layers, and took me many many hours.

I agree. Some good work there, man.

WOW! You can really tell when someone loves their work (or what they do to avoid work... )

That's awesome, Deep.

Thanks a bunch guys!! Yeah, this cube got messed up pretty good, but remember, from Best of Both Worlds, the cubes can still function even if 78% of the ship is inoperable, so I don't think its out of the fight yet ;) And there's still the two tactical cubes to deal with.

Yeah, well I think that 78% only counts if they STOP SHOOTING AT THE CUBE. But, seeing how they are still SHOOTING AT THE CUBE, I think the borg may have some trouble.

Maybe maybe not. If Janeways desk happened to be on that station thats in the process of going Kaboom, I'd say it was a victory for both sides.

The panorama is wicked. What did you use to create that?

Thanks again guys!!

Photoshop was used for the final composition. I used a Lightwave to render some of the ships, but 98% was Photoshop.
