[WH40K] Vassal 40K, Warhammer 40K Online
Like the title says, a way to play traditionally table top 40K online. Anyone tried it?

More Vassal 40K discussion. Apparently GW killed it but it's still active and being played.

This might actually motivate me to buy the 5th edition rulebook and even.... *GASP* a codex.

I've had so many of the codex/rule books that my friends just barrow them until they become outdated.Tyyr wrote:More Vassal 40K discussion. Apparently GW killed it but it's still active and being played.

Hmmm... a person could get to play without the enormous expense and time-investment of buying, fixing, customizing, and painting models? I.e., not sending huge checks to GW? I can't imagine why they squashed it...

Yes but there is something awesome about running your guys across the field. Or having them in parade fashion.Mikey wrote:Hmmm... a person could get to play without the enormous expense and time-investment of buying, fixing, customizing, and painting models? Yeah, it isn't like it would tempt anyone to see what the actual game is right? Hell I put off getting into TT for a couple years because GW are such frakking dicks.Mikey wrote:Hmmm... a person could get to play without the enormous expense and time-investment of buying, fixing, customizing, and painting models? Of course now, because GW causes so much trouble. People are going to online games rather then wanting anything to do with the GW stores and TT.

Re: [WH40K] Vassal 40K, Warhammer 40K Online
A trip to my local game shop reminded me why I don't play WH40K, I can't pay $50 for a single model or $40 for ten guardsmen when I need like 50 plus another couple vehicles at $50 a pop along with other things. In other words I can't afford $500 between models and books to get a 1,500 point army.
Still, I might buy an IG codex just because.

I'm like you, I can't put out that much money for an army. The New IG Codex makes all Guard rather generic, get it by all means I enjoyed reading it.
God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.

Add in paints on top of that.Tyyr wrote:A trip to my local game shop reminded me why I don't play WH40K, I can't pay $50 for a single model or $40 for ten guardsmen when I need like 50 plus another couple vehicles at $50 a pop along with other things. Re: [WH40K] Vassal 40K, Warhammer 40K Online
I've got a lot of paint for my CBT mini's already, and if you buy acrylic from the craftstore it's about a 1/10th the cost of the stuff from the hobby store. You don't get the grimdark names like Elf Flesh but when you can get five times the paint for half the price I can live with calling it tan.
