IMO, the Mirror universe eps of Enterprise showed us what a modern TOS could and ideally should be like. Modern special effects by all means, but a modern implementation of the original designs.

I agree. In a mirror darkly was well done, with one exception. When Archer vaporized Admiral Black, why didn't they use the origianal disintegration effect?

That's what I mean - they kept the actual effect of the phaser the same, so I have no problem with a more modern SFX for it.

I see what you mean, but I would have felt better if they'd kept at least the "color" of the vaporizing the same. Don't get me wrong though, it was still cool.

Yeah, I thought that. I wouldn't have minded the "creeping disintergration" effect, but why not make it blue like it was in TOS?

They might have been a bit better off mixing the two - keeping the overall blue glow, but adding in the creeping disintegration underneath. A minor detail, but would have been a pretty cool combination of the old and the new.

I would keep the over all design the same but I wouldnt mind the adding tecturing to it. The original ship was smooth and grey, I wouldnt mind them adding panels and such to it. Would make it look more interesting while also keep true to the original.

I agree, make the ship look as though it really was put together from thousands of different pieces.

Which appears to be what they've done. Yes, the nacelles have those little bulbs - which could easily indicate a slightly more primitive design, but other details like the deflector dish have been kept.

And the unprotected plasma feeds or large windows on the side of the Engineering hull. Perhaps, as time went by, they were deemed unnecessary.

That isn't the STXI Enterprise - that's Gabe Koerner's "reimagined" E-nil. TrekMovie article.

People have been saying the Titanic was sunk by an iceberg for the past ninety-odd years. Doesn't make either of them correct, although they're both understandable.
