Re: SFDebris: Return to Grace
Kirk stepped up to the plate. No matter what else, give the man credit for that.

Of course, if William Shatners novels were suddenly declared cannon, then he'd get up, and up, and up, and up

If Shatner's novels were declared canon we'd have serious problems reconciling his approach to the Mirror Universe with Enterprise's.Mark wrote:Of course, if William Shatners novels were suddenly declared cannon, then he'd get up, and up, and up, and up

Re: SFDebris: Return to Grace
I tried to read the first one of those and it was really, really strange. It was like a series of scenes of Kirk turning up to all the TNG people and beating them at stuff. I really read like some sort of TOS fan's fan fiction about how Kirk was better than everyone. I think I gave up after a while.

To be far it's not really hard to beat the TNG guys at things. How many times did we watch TNG and just face palm?

To be fair, I did enjoy The Ashes of Eden and even Preserver.

Not so far fetched. Kirk would spank Worf.

Depends on which Worf though. TNG Worf who got beat up by just about everyone... or DS9 Worf who killed 12 Jem'Hadar in single combat.

Does it matter against, The Kirk?
And as as a sidenote, I just watched Worf get humiliated by Lore the other day. Wow, I'd forgotten how easily a Soong class Positronic Android can fuck up a Klingon.

Yes, because Kirk isn't "The Kirk", he's just Kirk. He's good but he's not the best. There is only one "THE" in trek and that is THE SISKO.Mark wrote:Does it matter against, The Kirk?
Other then Data, I don't think anyone can go toe to toe with Lore and hope to win.Mark wrote:And as as a sidenote, I just watched Worf get humiliated by Lore the other day. Wow, I'd forgotten how easily a Soong class Positronic Android can fuck up a Klingon.

Ahem....hold up. Kirk was blazing across the stars kicking ass while Sisko's daddy was a gleam in grandpa's eye.
I was always disappointed with the lack of Lore use. He was a great baddie, and Brent Spinner was awsome playing him.

Oh lovely, now Kirk is old and fat with Worf being in his prime...Mark wrote:Ahem....hold up. Kirk was blazing across the stars kicking ass while Sisko's daddy was a gleam in grandpa's eye.
Would have been interesting having them play against each other on a more regular basis.Mark wrote:I was always disappointed with the lack of Lore use. He was a great baddie, and Brent Spinner was awsome playing him.
