Case in point; the alien ship (can't recall the name) in that TNG episode (also can't remember the name) that had been sitting in an asteroid field for 1,000 years. The life support systems still functioned, and it didn't seem too bad off after a millenium of sitting in space. I don't think standard operations really stress the hull at all.

"Booby Trap". That may be due to the advanced nature of the metals rather than anything else.
