Personal opinion: medical staff would be about 10% of total crew, at best. More like 5% is likely.

The majority is going to be engineering and security/tactical/MACOs.

Including the MACO's its less than 10%

The other thing to consider is that a lot of the time (in military situations) the dedicated medical staff is small, complimented by those who can provide medical services in an emergency.

For example, on Enterprise, there was Phlox and 2 nurses (the most I at least) as regular staff. However we could see a few times during the huge Xindi arc that security and command personnel were helping in sickbay.

I was thinking something similar to Stitch, what if the medical staff wasn't a dedicated medical staff. Instead it would be some of say engineering staff was also part of the medical staff, some of the science staff has a medical shift, something like that.

No, med staff should be med staff... there's just too many listed in Alex' plan. Remember, there would be no lab staff or medical researchers. In any event the total crew he has listed from his google search is already considerably higher than this RP has as the complement of the Aegis. I agree with Stitch - a total medical staff of approx. 10 folks would be it.

If you guys really want i will make my medical team smaller but how about 12 people. you did have a crew of 229 as the crew so add the macos and it is less than 10% as it is.

It's not "my" game, so I won't make any pronouncements regarding what has to be. Just giving my opinion, along with a reminder that we are outfitted as a ship of war so there likely wouldn't be medical research facilities of any great extent, pathology facilities, etc.

I'm ok with a round dozen, supplemented by the occasional "You and you you've just become nurses lets go."

How about 12 main medical and then some from another division that have been trained in medicine but are not primarily medical people. So they do their job, say security, but when needed they go to sickbay and help out?

I believe that's what I said ;-)

But yes, that's what I was trying to get at.

It's not an issue if your character is a bastard like Harvey. If he needs bodies, anyone happening to be in the vicinity becomes an involuntary volunteer.
