The Warships of New Eden (pictures)

Post by MetalHead »

I play EVE-Online. All gaming debates aside, the asthetics of the starships in this game is staggeringly well done. Thought i'd post some screenshots I TOOK for your enjoyment. Relish...and if you want one for a wallpaper (higher resolution obviously) just get me on MSN - BlackValkyire@aol.com

quick info - sizes in order from smallest to largest - Pod, Shuttle, Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Battlecruiser, Battleship, Carrier, Dreadnaught, Titan

Most are what you'd think, excluding the Titan. The Eve-Online description says "Rivaling Major Cities in Size..." for starters. haha. A Destroyer in EVE is like an anti-frigate platform, slightly bigger, but not by much. Same principle applies to the battlecruisers, only with far more effiency. Slightly bigger, ALOT more powerful. Carriers, Dreadnaughts, and Titans are classed as capital ships.

I can also do requests easily, haha

Those are absolutely beautiful and they remind me of the art on old sci-fi novels.

There doesn't seem to be any single guiding design philosophy among the ships of one particular faction (Gallente, for example.) Nice caps, though.

I've played the trial of the game, not sure whether to go full time but oh well.

and they are beautiful. Seriously, the game is beautiful. Amarr ships are by far the best looking by the way.

Well the Caldari vessels are great lumps of technology.

Minmatar ships (none of which i have pictured) look like scrap heaps welded together

Gallente usually make vessels just shy of symmetrical

Amarr make them with that sharp nose and long body.

I've played and left the game 2 or 3 times now I think.

I did love the game, but couldn't really justify the time I was spending on it - not that I'm doing anything that great with my free time at the minute :)

thing about eve is ISNT time consuming - as long as you log on to change your skill here and there, you'll constantly be improving. the only thing is gaining isk (the currency)

The Amarr fleet is by far the best in my opinion. Some Gallente cruisers are okay, Caldari are horrible and the Minmatar are like flying scaffolding.

I'm beginning to do the trial again. I might be able to get a subscription afterwards.

I'd like to point out that apart from the Gallente shuttle and the Gallente Incursus frigate, all the rest of his ships are bigass cruisers. it takes A LONG TIME to get to ships like that.

Your stuck with Frigates for a long time. But thats not necessarily a bad thing.

Thats only a few really. Getting pictures of capital ships or even T2 Battlecruisers and above is very rare, especially outside your own race.

You tend to see cruisers/Destroyers/Frigates and various industrial ships alot more often.
