I like the Hippocrates because he was the namesake of the Hippocratic Oath that all doctors are required to take..."and I will first do no harm".

I like Fleming, after Sir Alexander Fleming. He was the guy that discovered Penicillin (in 1928), and shared a Nobel Prize for doing so (about 20 years later).

I'd like to know what Lister has ever done for medicine. Besides being the last human left alive on some decrepit mining ship, of course.

1st Baron Lister, Sir Joseph Lister, born in the early 19th century. In the late 19th century he was a British surgeon who introduced phenol for sterilising surgical instruments and cleaning wounds. Died couple years before the first world war. And there's a hospital in Stevenage about 10 miles from where I live that's named after him.Captain Seafort wrote:I'd like to know what Lister has ever done for medicine. I voted Hippo since it seems to cover the entire mission statement of the class better than the others. The other names eem for like names for individual ships.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

None of the above. If we're talking about a medical ship, the name should be Asclepius.

Why? I chose nightingale because when I asked a couple of people to name someone to do with medicine, they immediatly said florence nightingale.

Hmm. "Galen" is missing from the list, too.

Or perhaps to go with the theme and genre,
McCoy?
Chapel?
M'Benga?

Watson has been suggested. I will leave it until next Wednesday (11th) at which time I will use the leader.

I'd happily have a M'Benga class.
