Re: Pacific Rim
Well you don't NEED to fire a missle at it, just a small fleet of even WW2 area planes used normally for aerial firefighting should do the trick. Except for so many problems with that idea. 1) There actually aren't that many firefighting aircraft around. It's a rather specialized task. 2) None of t...

Re: Pacific Rim
So...instead of building a robot you would just build a.........slow flying missle? Maybe one with rocket breaks to slow down before impact? Maybe not filled with explosive but acid or some-such? Or a burning agent? You know.....kill it with fire? F=MA is not your friend in that situation. Since yo...

Re: Kerbal Space Program
It's a game that has tried hard to be as realistic as it can. Right now you produce generic science points by doing generic science experiments. I unlocked hypersonic flight parts with gravity readings taken at Pol. That's non-sense. I'd much rather get new parts from doing science and making simila...

Re: The Walking Dead
Must have missed that, and that would make this a REALLY old prison.
I take that back, this might not have been as high security as some. Most of what I know is from old prisons the equivalent of todays super max.

Re: What next?
There have been plenty of such plots in Trek history. Often they've been fucked up or come up against something like the Prime Directive but Trek has done it before. Hell, Dear Doctor could have been a great episode if they'd done something with it. Ok, first draft: Hmm, ok. In TOS Kirk played fast ...

If we're going with robot house keepers I want mine to look like this.

Re: The Walking Dead
And I seriously doubt they're the only ones fucking.
If I had to pick I'd go with a cell upstairs, set off away from everyone.
The problem with keys is that's not how most prisons work. They're controlled from a remote guard station, have been for a long time.

Re: What next?
That's not cerebral, that's technobabble.
Have an actual dilemma. Not one with a black and white perspective but shades of gray. Don't have a villain. Have an adventure that really taxes the crew because of it's nature rather than just being secretive.

Creative was broken in MoO2. It would have been too cheap even at 12 points.

Re: The Walking Dead
Well I don't think anyone wants to be locked in if the shit hits the fan. So you might have issues getting people to agree with it. It is the sensible thing to do though. Honestly living in that world I'd sleep in the cell with the door locked and several guns in easy reach. In case of this bug they...

Re: Pacific Rim
You could science it away by making their skin a non newtonian liquid like cornflower and water. The harder and faster something hits it the harder it works to stop it. So bullets and missles would totally bounce off while a fist traveling at only 30kph but weighing a fuckton would do damage. From ...

Re: What next?
Personally, I wish they would stop remaking stuff and get an imagination of their own. It's cute once or twice but it will start to wear thin. That right there. They need to go off on their own and do something new with this crew. Personally I'm hoping with a more cerebral, less action oriented mov...

Re: Pacific Rim
Well a very basic bit of math will reveal that a Jaeger's fist weighs in at about 1.5 million pounds. When it rocket punched Leatherback it was not unlike slamming a 747 into the Kaiju's face. Let's be real here. Giant mecha make no sense. Giant monsters make no sense. However in this genre of film ...

Re: Pacific Rim
Here's the problem. Godzilla is about 300 feet tall, just scaling him up from a more conventional lizard he probably weighs in at 40,000 tons (200 blue whales). That's a lot of meat. Assuming no monster mojo a bunker buster is going to do a good job burrowing into his body. The problem is that bunk...

Re: Pacific Rim
I did the math in the Godzilla thread, but the problem is that our conventional weapons simply aren't designed to engage something like that. Nothing we have is big enough. It's like trying to kill a crocodile with a BB gun. Could you do it eventually? Yeah. However if you're throwing everything you...
