Re: Server move - Complete

Yes, with time each DNS will update and you will end up here, rather than the old server. I helped it along by setting the "time to live" on DNS entries to 15 mins last Friday. This affects the time that a given DNS should cache an IP address before having to go back to basics and look it ...

Re: Today I Watched...

Free Guy - Pretty silly but great fun. Especially for anyone who has ever played a video game.

Re: Today I Watched...

Oppenheimer - Yes it was great. But I found that Barbie had more lasting appeal, partially because Oppenheimer was so long. Trolls Band Together - I saw that yesterday. As you say pretty silly, but fun. Wish - Disney's 100 anniversary movie. It was OK, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as Frozen. ...

Re: Server move

So the initial work has been done. The new server is configured and a test migration performed. I've set the DNS to update more frequently, in an attempt to shorten the time required for the rollout. The plan is to freeze and start the process Monday morning UK time. I would do it tomorrow but I'm n...

Server move - Complete

We're once again going to be performing a server move. This time it is pretty much the same hardware as last time but there's a Black Friday deal on, that should save me 20% over the next year or so. So if you haven't been through one of these moves before. It goes pretty much as follows: A new serv...

I'm not sure what the twist was supposed to be, it just looked like a copy.

Re: Today I Watched...

I'm doing a bit of a movie marathon at home this week, as Irene is away walking the south downs. Today I watched: - Galaxy Quest - Lake Placid Only now do I realise that both have Jed Rees in them. I suppose I could round the set off with Deadpool. Looking at his credits I'm fascinated by a movies c...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?

Thanksgiving is not really a holiday that exists outside of the US (for obvious reasons). We do have some associated add ons like "Black Friday Deals", which typically are only available online and involve no scrimmages you have in the US. I'm pretty sure nobody has ever died over black Fr...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?

Nice... but a pain to value and sell. I suppose you could go to a dealer, but you know they're going to rip you off. The likes of eBay is likely too low brow for such things.

Yeh, we did well enough. We sold a house, without a mortgage, for every £850k.

Re: Today I Watched...

Wow, I didn't recognise Gemma Chan in that movie. Not the first time she's been involved in a story about AI. Look out for "Humans", British near future sci-fi which ran for 3 seasons. Being British there are only 8 episodes a season. The location of the flying wing thing was completely no...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?

It was Graham and my promise from the earliest days of the site that it would never contain ads. Don't worry. I'm retired and currently don't even have a pension, but it doesn't stop us from budgeting £70K for living expenses and holidays, mainly holidays.
