Re: My Laptop Will Not Play Sounds

Excellent. This is something I might actually be able to do. Okay, one last question before I try to get this thing working again. How exactly do I find out what driver I have? It doesn't seem to get any more specific than "Realtek High Definition Audio" and "Version 6.0.1.5386&...

Re: Thoughts from a latecomer (a.k.a., F you, Cameron)

At the end of the film, the Navi and remaining humans still control all of the tech left behind. From what I understand, that includes a lot of manufacturing equipment. Theoretically, they could expand that capacity, and at least put up a lot more of a fight. AFAIK, there's a grand total of two sci...

Re: Julian Assange (Wikileaks) Arrested In London

Tyyr, that approach is actually a pretty damn good one. Wikileaks and the people behind it are, quite simply, unstoppable. Take down the site, another one will spring up. Kill/disappear/arrest the people running it, more will just step up. Much like the War On Terror or Drugs, this isn't a problem t...

Re: Wikileaks releases US Cables

Getting back on track, AFAIK it's possible for US citizens to be executed for treason outside of wartime. Weren't the people who leaked info on the atomic bomb to the Soviets executed for treason? No state of war existed there. Trying to shut down the Wikileaks site itself hits the same problem as t...

Re: My Laptop Will Not Play Sounds

Regarding the driver, how do I go about re-installing it? Is it a piece of software, or an actual physical thing? Doing some quick Googling, I can find a bunch of downloads for RealTek audio drivers. Is installing one really just as simple as dowloading and clicking on install? Yes, as you may have ...

Re: Thoughts from a latecomer (a.k.a., F you, Cameron)

I don't see how the Na'vi ever could advance their tech, even to the level of simple fire-arms. Not only have they shown great resistance to even consider using advance tech, but it would take them centuries to build up the infrastructure to get to the level of modern day Earth. And that's assuming ...

Re: Julian Assange (Wikileaks) Arrested In London

So such action is unlikely to be taken because the guys in charge are worried they too might be hit? Figures.

No idea. It's just what I've heard. It may well be wrong.

Re: Julian Assange (Wikileaks) Arrested In London

Seems to me killing him would simply ask for someone else to replace him as a source for leaks. And that's just the thing that a lot of people seem to be forgetting. Assange isn't responsible for the leaks. Nor is Wikileaks itself. They simply broadcast what other people give them - they don't go l...

Re: Julian Assange (Wikileaks) Arrested In London

EDIT: @ Deep Again, what does that gain anyone? As I said above, any injust action taken against Assange will probably just result in more leaks, as such action would serve only to convince more people to leak information to Wikileaks. The best way to deal with people like Assange is simply to ignor...

Re: Wikileaks releases US Cables

Any action taken against him that's percieved to be injust will only make matters worse. Not only would it piss a lot of people off, but it would pretty heavily damage the reputation of any country seen to be involved in any excesively long imprisonment / dissapearing / execution / whatever of this ...

My Laptop Will Not Play Sounds

This is a problem that appeared a couple of hours ago. As the title suggests, my laptop won't play any sound. No music, no speach, no error noises, nothing. It was working fine one moment. Then when I went to watch something on Youtube it wouldn't make a sound. I've plugged in headphones and hooked ...

Re: Thoughts from a latecomer (a.k.a., F you, Cameron)

I think my feelings towards Avatar can be summed up with the words "pretty, but lacking". In terms of visuals, the movie looked absolutely brilliant. Pandora itself looked great, the flora and fauna were great to look at (if rather lacking in imagination), and the humans' military gear loo...

Re: George Lucas Buying Rights To Dead Actors...

To be quite honest, I find this a rather distasteful and disrespectful thing to do. Let the dead rest, and let them be remembered by what they leave behind.
