Re: Phaser type equals what?
Well that's what I've been doing so far, so finding my assumptions were true works for me, because it means I don't have to change anything.

Re: Phaser type equals what?
Thanks for the info. I didn't have much hope that there was any detailed specs on the relation between type and power, but you never know what some people might have come across.

Phaser type equals what?
Question: What is the relation between a phaser's type and it's over all power, aside from the obvious, a bigger number means more power? Is a type 12 twice as powerful as a type 6? A type 10 ten times more powerful than a type 9, and a hundred times more than a type 8? Or is it a range, a phaser th...

Re: Telepathy and security in Trek
Eh, it's not like starfleet security is all that great to begin with. What's one more hole in a block of swiss cheese?

Re: Self-Destruct
Boy, that kind of stuff sure makes one feel insignificant. The total destruction of all life as we know it is little more than a small bruise on the planet itself.

Re: Self-Destruct
Ah...well my bad. Still, that seems like an insane amount of energy to be toting around with you.

Re: Self-Destruct
And you are entitled to your opinion. But there's no canon on the subject either way. No, but isn't that why people have these discussions, just because there is in fact no offical onfo (assuming we go only by what has been stated in the shows and ignore other offically licensed sources) Just becau...

Re: Self-Destruct
So really, if you're going to blow up your ship, it's best just to completely destroy it. You won't be saving any planets going with a lower level blast, unless the ship has already crashed. If it's floating around in space though, go ahead and nuke the core, the boom won't get very far. We've seen...

Re: Self-Destruct
Nearly a million tons for the TOS Ent. I'm happy to believe that of an 800,000 ton ship, 50,000 tons could be antimatter. I think that would be over kill to an unbeliveable degree. If we go with the canon, coming right from the episode you reference, Obsession, then what we have is a fuel source of...

Re: Borg invasion
Klingons: Well first they would celebrate, because lets face it, prior to the dominion war, they didn't have much going for them as a warrior race. Hard to call yourself a proud warrior when you spend most of your time puttering around space wishing someone would give you a reason to shoot them. Wit...
