Review : If you're looking for something that slots in nicely with established history, then I have one piece of advice: STEP AWAY FROM THE BOOK! If you're looking for an extremely well written book, this is it, assuming you can avoid flashback whiplash.

Review : For an amazing story on the first voyage of the Starship Enterprise, as in TOS, this is definately the best story few have likely read. Captain Robert April and Commander George Kirk oversee a rescue mission of a passenger ship stranded in a radiation field which, before even having a chance to get there, turns into a rescue mission for the Enterprise herself from Romulan hands! I tell you what, if Trek:11 would have based on this novel, you can bet that star trek, it's fans and sci-fi itself would've been superbly blasted back into warp speed!! But no, so if you want a nice origin story for Trek, I don't know as you can get a better fit with our beloved Original Series than by reading this book.
